AJ’s Adventures in Bone Frog Training

AJ’s Adventures in Bone Frog Training

Happy Almost Friday All –

It’s been almost 2 weeks since the Kringle 5K that some of us DJs trained for and if you didn’t hear…I was no Gump…I didn’t hit my goal of an under 30 minute 5K…I completed in 31:55. I wasn’t actually upset about it having had a wedding the night before I was literally running on 5 hours of sleep. Just means I still have something to work towards…

ON THAT NOTE…I’ve decided on my next challenge…something I know I can’t con my co-workers into but perhaps you’ll be inspired?… The Bone Frog Challenge! A couple Navy Seals from the South Deerfield area have put together their own mud run obstacle course that will be taking place at Berkshire East in September. I met the organizers up at Beast in March during the cardboard sled race…I was intrigued by their set up as it seemed very Tough Mudder like to me…and if we forgot how Tough Mudder went for me…the first year hypothermia around mile 7 and then I went back for a 2nd year just to prove to myself I could finish (with the avoidance of a few cold water obstacles).  Am I motivated or just crazy…jury I think is leaning towards crazy.

The website for the Bone Frog Challenge describes this challenge as “created, owned and operated by Navy SEALs that want you to know what accomplishment feels like. See if you measure up to the SEAL standard during this 9-12 mile adventure!”  I did some questioning and I was told the Bone Frog will have 4 obstacles  every mile  and less obstacles that are purely there to just mess with you…no electrocution and maybe a few water obstacles.  Sounds like a plan to me!

The event will take place September 13th – 15th …I will be partaking on the 14th with a team of cool cats. And of course this will require more training then a 5K …I’m thinking plenty of spin classes, yoga, boot camps, and mountain hikes! I’ll be documenting “AJ’s Adventures in Bone Frog Training” for your amusement and perhaps motivation to partake in the challenge yourself. Or…maybe you’ll just head to the challenge come September to cheer on the participants and enjoy the mad fun party that will be happening all weekend long! Food…music…and of course BEER!

If this challenge intrigues you check out their website and get your Bone Frog on! Happy training friends :-)

WATCH: 10 best ‘Simpsons’ episodes

In this photo released by Fox, Homer explains why he wants to bring back the annual 4th of July fireworks display, after it's cancelled for budget reasons, in the "Yellow Badge of Cowardge" Season Finale episode of "The Simpsons," in May 2014. The full 25-year run of "The Simpsons" will arrive on cable channel FXX with a summer marathon, to be paired this fall with a digital extravaganza that could turn other TV shows yellow with envy. "I'm not going to over-promise, but I think this website will provide you with affordable health care," longtime "Simpsons" executive producer Al Jean told a TV critics' meeting Monday, July 21, 2014.

The recent marathon of all 552 episodes of "The Simpsons" inspired us to sit down and come up with our 10 favorite episodes. Enjoy!
