Hello everyone! Last week we took a vacation. I cannot remember the last time I took a whole week of vacation from the radio station. Just my luck, it happens when the corona virus really started to spread. Since planes, airports and the corona virus ignoring state of Florida were involved, I have been asked to avoid the Bear Country 95.3 studio for two weeks. But, they have been giving me the option to broadcast from my house in Winchester, NH! The remote broadcast equipment was dropped off at my home yesterday and this morning the fun began.
My family is a lot like yours right now. Connor and Amelia, who attend our local school are remote-learning here for at least two weeks and Ann’s job has asked her to work from home too. The four of us, three cats and two weeks of avoiding others. Will we make it?
I thought it would be best to document what is going on for those concerned.
So this is the Bear in the Morning Studio for the next two weeks. My dining room. Bizarre I tell you although rather comfortable. The refrigerator is only steps away. Hannah (who hosts our afternoon show) is running the controls back at the station, so I really don’t have to do much manual work. (thanks Hannah!) Unless getting random cats off your lap counts as work.
That is our orange kitty Noodle. Very friendly but a bit of a bother while I am trying to tell you there is snow in the forecast.
Ann had a good idea of each of us setting up work stations. Here is Amelia’s Ann has also created a day scheduler and shockingly we stuck by it for most of the day.
A pancake meal made the morning a bit better.
Connor is holding a small jug of syrup boiled right here in Winchester! In fact it was boiled down on an evaporator that a friend of mine and I purchased this winter. So far my friend has done all the boiling and I have not been much help. More on that later. Notice the Nintendo Switch to Connor’s right. Connor thinks this time away from school means more Switch time. He is sorely mistaken.
This afternoon we had to get out. We took an nice walk around the block practicing our distancing techniques. Very few people and few vehicles around. These next few weeks are going to be rough. (Weeks, hopefully not months!)
We did catch some signs of spring. Right before it started to snow. Cruel world. -Kevin
