I’m back!
Another week of vacation is in the books and one day it will be a part of Facebook memories. A big part of the week was spent on Cape Cod where ice cream for dessert is required.
This is Amelia with an extra special ice cream cone with an Oreo on top.
Like most Cape Cod excursions, a lot of time was spent at the beach. We typically go to the bay side during the day…….
This is Paine’s Creek Beach in Brewster. In the evenings we head to Nauset Beach in Orleans. You get to avoid the $30 beach fee after 5PM!
We are not the only ones that avoid the beach fee after hours……
How can you resist the beach with that sky in the distance?
While at the beach, we did some exploring. Amelia is good at picking up treasures.
Now, I would say it is debatable whether this is a treasure or not. Amelia loved it enough to bring it back to New Hampshire. More on that another time.
This trip, we went on a whale watch!
We used Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch out of Provincetown. They did not disappoint. There is some boat travel involved as you can probably imagine. It give you a chance to grab a bit to eat and tip the help.
And maybe indulge in an appropriate beverage.
But once you get out into the ocean, they are good at finding the whales.
There were about 15 sightings during our trip of three different whales. These whales were recognized by the crew and it was neat how they knew the whale’s lineage. They are known for returning to this area every summer to feed. They spend the colder months in the Caribbean. Smart whales.
Some were quite close, others not so much but the company stresses how they try to give you a close experience and respect the whales at the same time. Expect your trip to to last about three hours if you go. The whale watch was good but here is my highlight of the day.
I actually found a place to park on Commercial Street in Provincetown! I am sure those who have been to Provincetown before know what a rare occurrence this can be. I have been bragging about this for days.
After we got home late last week, Connor and I attended our first New England Revolution game at Gillette Stadium.
We had a great time, even though the game ended in a 0-0 tie. No overtime, no shoot-out to declare a winner. That had me disappointed, but the Revolution came close to scoring a couple of times and the crowd was really into it.
Before the game I took this photo….
I hash-tagged it #NErevs and during halftime they put it on the massive new video board ! Very cool to see and Connor was so excited.
Yesterday we were out and about, but I did not take any photos until I got home. Here is one of my favorite meals this time of year.
Sweet corn with melted butter and ground pepper. Delicious!
Thanks to Jay Deane for filling in for me last week. We are already planning our next vacation! -Kevin
