On Saturday we piled into the family roadster and headed to Boston. Faneuil Hall was our destination. It has been years since I have been there.
I lived in Boston just over 25 years ago. The TD Garden was called the Garden, the expressway splitting Government Center and the North End had just gone underground as a result of the Big Dig and the Red Sox had not won a World Series since 1918.
Other than going to Faneuil Hall we had no other plans, so we played the role of tourist and started walking around.
At Faneuil Hall, they have a great map of the area, especially if you are interested in walking the Freedom Trail.
We decided to head north. Connor and Ameila thought it was neat that all you had to do was follow the bricks on the sidewalk and road to stay on the trail.
We made a slight detour to see the Holocaust Memorial.
As the website says, the memorial is inspirational as it also provides hope and is a beacon of light. You should see it, especially at night.
Back on the trail, one of the first outdoor sites we encountered was the outdoor market. It is a produce hotspot in Boston. Prices are great and you can also find some different offerings than you get at the local grocery store. Like Indian Bitter.
I have no idea if 4 for $1 is a good deal or not.
We continued north into the North End and arrived at Paul Revere’s House.
For $16 we opted for the tour. It is a small house. Especially since Paul Revere had 16 kids! Consider stopping by the next time you are in Boston and are seeking some history.
All that history got us hungry, so we started back, but not before a stop at Mike’s Pastry. Which was CLOSED!!! Winter vacation. Major bummer. No photo. I was too distraught. Modern Pastry was open but the line was crazy long. No pastries for us.
Back Faneuil Hall, we went into Quincy Market where there are many food options!
I opted to open up my wallet and get a lobster roll!
With a cup of chowder, total was $31.76 plus tax!
After enjoying some sushi, Amelia was hungry for a corn dog.
Connor got pizza and a smoothie. Ann got gelato. It may just be the one place on earth where everyone in my family can be happy with the food options.
I hope you had a good weekend! -Kevin
