My weekend in 10 photos. Pumpkin Smash!

70’s and sunny for Pumpkin Smash weekend! Unfortunately, it was a bit windy too. I will get to that in a moment.

First off, I must mention Friday afternoon when I broadcasted live at Rustic Romance in Millers Falls.

I got our final qualifiers for the $10K Giveaway which was sponsored by Charter Next Generation. Cindy had a huge sale at her store, and I got to see so many friends who stopped by to take advantage.

By the way, congratulations to Gail in Turners Falls, this year’s $5000 winner! We drew her name this morning in a drawing at the radio station. I understand she is a star over at Erving Elementary School. Now she has some extra pocket money for the holidays!

OK, now on to the smashing…..

The weather was almost perfect on Saturday. Sunny. 70’s. It was just a wee bit windy which made being 30 feet up in the air a bit interesting to say the least! We smashed over 150 pumpkins on Saturday at Hager’s Farm Market and made money for local 4H Clubs!

This year I brought Connor along to help out. He was checking in the pumpkins.

Once checked in, they were brought over to the smashing area over at Hager’s.

We had a bunch of 4H’ers helping us out this year. They did a great job hauling pumpkins and then cleaning up the smashing area. Here is what it looked like from above.

I think this was the windiest Pumpkin Smash we have ever done. Gotta admit, I was holding on from 30 feet up. But I did have time to take photos of the rotten pumpkins I was about to smash.

This white one was heavy. It was a good smash. But not the farthest!

It was a dirty operation. Pumpkin guts everywhere. And on me.

In the end. Pumpkin #117, brought by Blake of Deerfield was declared the winner. It smashed over 50 feet! This was Blake’s first time at the Pumpkin Smash.

If I remember correctly, Blake is 10. Ten year old’s are just as tall as me. How did this happen? Congratulations Blake! She held onto that trophy tight after it was handed to her.

Saturday night I attended a Guy Fawkes Bonfire.

Never heard of Guy Fawkes? My knowledge was limited as well.

But I found out one thing, it didn’t take him long to go up in flames!

I hope you had a good weekend!

Kevin
