The weather this weekend was excellent! Shame on you if you spent extended hours inside ignoring the beautiful summer conditions that I dream of all year.
Is there anything in the world happier than a dog with a tennis ball?
I took Abby to the dog park early on Saturday and tossed that tennis ball for her to chase about 1000 times. Our dog park is located where they used to play tennis in town. Running the dog on the old courts also wears down her nails. Less maintenance for me!
After the dog park, I headed over to the Kiwanis sign. One of my duties in the club is to update the sign. Here is all the information you need to know if you want to participate in our 1st ever Cornhole Tournament! It promises to be a good time.
Later I picked up our farm share at Picadilly Farm.
I stood here for a moment and soaked in the morning sun. These are rows of cutting flowers that are just starting to bloom. To the right are pepper plants. They grow many different varieties which are also not ready yet. Patience.
The big score at the farm share pickup was tomatoes!
They did not let us take too many, but still, this is the first of the season. This is another reason why I love the farm share. I don’t know anyone with a vegetable garden that has tomatoes ready in early July.
I also picked up some pickling cucumbers.
Amelia has been asking for pickles so I found a quick recipe online for refrigerator pickles. Here is the result. I won’t eat them, but I am sure Amelia will and I will report back to you on how they came out.
Saturday night I had announcer duties at Monadnock Speedway. It was a great night for racing!
There were many races and winners but special congratulations goes out to Zach and Owen Zilinski who live in Gill. Zach won his first Pure Stock race and Owen won the Young Guns race. I am so glad I was there to witness it!
On Sunday we spent our time at Forest Lake. First, four of us pilled into the canoe for a paddle around the lake.
That is Connor at the helm. Amelia and Ann were passengers and I was in the back steering the ship.
Afterwards it was time for some swimming. The kids still love the Town Beach.
I do too.
I hope you had a good weekend!
