It was the final weekend before Labor Day weekend. Don’t let people tell you it will mark the end of summer! Summer officially ends three weeks into September. Also three weeks into September is this event in my town.
If you have never been, consider this your invitation.
I went to the Cummington Fair on Saturday and Sunday to help out my friends at the Stoney Roberts Demolition Derby. The event at the Cummington Fairgrounds is one of my favorites, I wish it didn’t take over an hour to get there! This was the first time I have seen a bug demo derby car…..
The Cummington Fairgrounds has a great spot to view the derby. On Saturday night there were lots of people “up on the hill.”
There were some good heats but then the wind kicked up and the sky got dark. And then the rain came.
The demo continued in the rain when a second show appeared over the trees.
I posted this rainbow photo on my social media saying that it looked so much better in person. That is the absolute truth. The photo is good but that rainbow was amazing for those of us who were there. Everyone was taking photos.
I was back on Sunday for the Demo Derby features. Congratulations to Donnie Brown of Colrain!
You will be able to see him compete again in just under two weeks at the Franklin County Fair.
Can you go to any fair and leave without this?
As a fine coinsurer of fudge, the people at Nelson’s do a good job.
I came home to harvest another tomato from the container garden.
I believe the variety of this one is called Marglobe. It was consumed at dinner and was very tasty.
I hope you had a good weekend!
