Morning Show

My weekend in eight photos. Run, tree, public art, boosted, rested.

It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, I have been trying to run inside on the treadmill or outside when the weather if favorable.
I have also been signing up and running 5K’s in our area. This Saturday, Connor and I headed over to Brattleboro to run the Jingle Bell Jog. Actually, I ran. Connor ate donuts.

It was my first time running this 5K, which benefits the Brattleboro Chamber of Commerce.

Connor got a photo of me, my best side, right at the end of the race.

I ran the 5K in 28 minutes and three seconds. At 49 years old, I feel pretty good running anything that averages under a ten minute mile. I will keep this up as long as I can.
On the way home, we stopped and picked up our Christmas tree.

It was nice to support the Brattleboro Rotary. Money from the tree sales goes towards their scholarship fund.
On the way home, I stopped along Route 119 to get a closer look at something I had never noticed before.

It is in the village of Ashuelot, which is technically Winchester. A building sat on this land for many years which is close to the Ashuelot River. Evidently I have not been on Route 119 in Ashuelot lately because this is the first time I have noticed this work of art. Any guesses as to what it is? I posted on a community forum asking that question. Many said it looked like an old turbine of some sort. One person claimed it was from the air shaft of the Hoosac Tunnel. I will keep investigating.
Later on Saturday I got boosted!

Which means on Sunday I laid low. There was some decorating happening at my house. (Photos coming) I also took one of our artificial trees and put it on our deck.

I think it looks good. Better when it is darker out, of course.
Other than that, it was a day for lounging.

I hope you had a good weekend! Enjoy the week! -Kevin

Who says to beware the Ides of March? A March 15 Academy Awards may feel late. By then, it will be almost a year since "Sinners" sunk its teeth into moviegoers last April. Some nominees have been on the campaign trail since the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Robert De Niro delivers Lincoln’s civility warning at a Carnegie Hall benefit

Robert De Niro walked onto Carnegie Hall's stage Tuesday night, unannounced and to loud applause. He didn't make any speeches, at least none of his own. After a career defined by playing gangsters, an avenging taxi driver and a paranoid prize fighter, the Oscar-winning actor recited a call for civility, as first spoken by Abraham Lincoln.
