Let’s get in our time machine and go back to last Thursday. Remember all the hype about the snow we were going to get? Well, to prepare I brought in a ton of firewood and made a heck of a mess. (Please note that the wood in front of the stove did not stay there.)
Well, we didn’t get all that much snow. Maybe 4 inches in Winchester on Saturday. It was windy as all heck though and most of my day was spent inside.
They say a visit from a cardinal is a loved one coming to visit. Well, this guy has been at our feeder all winter!
Happy to see him too. The birders I talk to say that if a cardinal comes to your feeder often, that they have made a home nearby. They have learned to trust you, the birdseed filler, that you will be a reliable source of food. Another mouth I am responsible to feed over here!
Saturday night I sat down and watched the Barret-Jackson auction on the History Channel. Amazing how much bidders were paying for what was arguably beautiful and rare cars but still! It seemed every car was selling for over $200K in a matter of moments! If you need another example of wealth that exists in this country, just watch one of these auctions.
Someday I hope to have a collector car or something cool that I can drive on the weekends during the summer, but I assure you I will not be paying anything close to $200K!
If you listened to Bear in the Morning on Friday, Shannon from Forster’s Supermarket passed along her recipe for Roasted Red Pepper soup. I made it on Saturday night and it was excellent. You can find the recipe here .
It was freezing on Sunday. A day made for an Irish sweater! Purchased in Galway, Ireland, I only wear it when it is wicked cold. Sunday was one of those days. Connor said I looked goofy wearing it. Goofy perhaps, but warm.
Speaking of being warm, are these the best or what? I stuff these hand warmers in my gloves when I am shovel snow or using the snow blower. Makes those chores a little less miserable.
We are rested up and ready for another busy week over here. I hope you had a good weekend! -Kevin
