Per usual, my weekend started on Friday night. I stayed out WAY TOO LATE! (A little background. I wake up at 3AM each weekday. By Friday night I am usually done and ready for bed at 7PM)
The reason I stayed up late was because I was asked to share emcee duties at the Monadnock Speedway annual banquet. I work at Monadnock as an announcer during the racing season helping out my friends Dave Sutherland (who has been the track announcer there forever!) and Randy Wheelock.
So they asked Randy and I to emcee on Friday night since Dave is still in Florida. As I posted on Facebook, there is a first time for everything!
Here I am with Randy getting ready to hand out all sorts of awards to the drivers for their success last year at Monadnock.
There were some BIG trophies to give out !
Sometimes my last name gets spelled incorrectly. It happens all the the time. Hey, at least I got a seat at the head table!
I had a blast. It is so much fun awarding people for their accomplishments. I love learning about the drivers, teams and families that compete at Monadnock. By the way, our local racing show, The Checkered Flag Report will return to Bear Country 95.3 on Saturday April 23rd at 10AM. Let’s go racing!
I spent time outside doing yard cleanup on Saturday. Lots of raking! Lots of cleaning up after the dog after ignoring that chore for the winter! Ann and Amelia spent the night out of town at a cheer competition, so Connor and I hung out on Saturday night. We had pizza, (big surprise) and I thought we were going to watch a movie but Connor wanted to see his latest obsession show on Netflix Is It Cake.
This show brings in bakers from all over the United States. These bakers create cakes that look like everyday items. Like a shoe, or a phone, a rubber ducky, or practically anything. Celebrity contestants have to decide whether an item is cake or not. It is harder than it sounds! Anyways, I think Connor has already seen all 8 episodes which were just released last week.
Sunday was not too eventful. Another indoor soccer game in the morning and more spring cleaning once we got home.
I did find something which made the weekend a little sweeter though….
This stuff is SO GOOD! Unsure if it is available in Massachusetts but I found it for sale at Manning Hill Farm in Winchester.
I hope you had a good weekend! -Kevin
