I was out and about all weekend long. Everywhere I went there was amazing color. I am not a huge fan of autumn as I really dislike the season that follows it. Anyways, one of the highlights of fall are the incredible colors provided by the maple, elm and oak trees in our area. For some reason, the reds this fall seem especially red. The oranges are brilliant up and down the valley.
And this weekend I did not take a photo of one tree. Not one. Oh well. One thing I was a bit obsessed with was taking photos of food like this awesome meal I had on Friday night from the Outlaw Kitchen in Winchester.
Butternut squash soup and a grilled cheese with tomato and pesto. Perfect!
Saturday, the soccer team at the Winchester School (which I coach) participated in a tournament in Westmorland, NH. We had three games on our schedule on Saturday. We won the first one 3-0, lost the second 4-1 and won the final 5-0. Our two wins got us invited back to play in the semi-finals on Sunday. This was a huge accomplishment for our team.
Unfortunately, we drew the team we lost to on Saturday. A very tough team that won all their games and let in only one goal. (By our team, BTW)
Also unfortunately, I had signed up to run a half-marathon in Northampton on Sunday months ago. I was going back and forth on going to the game or going to Northampton. Lucky, I have a great athletic director who has been helping out our team all season. He agreed to coach the team for me on Sunday. Unfortunately, we lost the game on Sunday, 4-0. Still super proud of those players and their effort.
So, I was off to Look Park yesterday to run 13.1 miles. It was my second half marathon that I attempted to run.
Ann snapped this photo of me coming to the finish line. Do I look exhausted? I was!
And thirsty!
I finished the 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 13 minutes. Out of the 300 runners, I came in at #201. I took three minutes off my time from earlier this year. There were a lot of competitive runners at this race. I just set my pace and did the best I could. I averaged running a 10-minute mile which I would love to improve on, but for pushing 50, I don’t think it is too bad.
I on the way home we stopped at the Smithsonian Chowderhouse in Hatfield. I had their famous seafood chowder.
Boy did that hit the spot!
I hope you had a good weekend! -Kevin
