My weekend in three photos.

On Saturday I attended my first Robert Burns supper.

Robbie Burns is known as the national poet of Scotland. You probably know at least one of his works that you might sing on December 31st.

The night is filled with poetry, Scottish music and food. The Burns poetry is nice, the music is wonderful, but it is the food that gets the most conversation, especially those who have never experienced the event.

The menu, which you see above featured such delights as cock-a-leekie soup, clootie dumplings and haggis. I knew going in that haggis was not the most appetizing item you can find on a menu, but I am game to try almost anything once.

There it is in all its glory. There is only one that gets cut and shared. A couple of fork-fills was just enough for me.

I also got to try what is billed as Scotland’s National Drink. (After whiskey)

Not bad. Irn Bru tasted like an orange cream soda.

Robert Burns birthday was January 25th and if you look hard enough, you will find a Robert Burns Dinner held somewhere.

I am already looking forward to next year.

I hope you had a great weekend!
