Projects At Home

Since stay-at-home continues, and we are not hiking at the moment, I thought I would share some of the projects we have going around the house.
We primarily heat with wood. We have a oil furnace but it rarely gets used. I will fill up the tank once a year. In fact, I may do that soon since oil is so cheap. $1.99 a gallon! Anyways, we burn about 3-4 cords of would during the winter in our woodstove. I try to have enough cordwood ready two years in advance. I don’t have time to wait for wood to dry and I don’t trust the cordwood sellers that say they sell dry wood. We got a delivery of two cords last week and it took me about 5 hours to get it stacked this weekend.
Some say I am a bit fussy about how I stack firewood. You decide.

Three years ago I built a backyard shed. It is 12/18 feet and full of stuff and provides my getaway during the warmer months. I noticed that rain had been getting through the doors I made. So yesterday I made an overhang.

Notice the fire alarm? I got that from the Shelburne Fire Department when they disconnected all the alarms in town. This alarm was on a pole on North Street, about 100 yards from State Street.

There are many more projects on the list. Until next time…..
