Athol voters soundly defeat overrides; Raymond, Blake elected to Selectboard

ATHOL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Voters in Athol have decisively turned down a pair of Proposition 2 1/2 overrides and elected two new members to the Selectboard in Monday’s Annual Town Election.

The first override question for $1.8 million, to maintain current levels of staffing and services, was defeated 1,437-427.

The second override question, for $2.9 million to fund services and three new hires, was also soundly defeated, 1,624-222.

In the race for two seats on the Selectboard, Russell Raymond was the top vote-getter with 821. Alex Blake also won a seat on the board, finishing second with 671 votes.
