ATHOL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Athol Selectboard has decided to put both options for a Proposition 2 1/2 override on the April 6th Town Election ballot.
The Proposition 2 1/2 override allows the town to raise their property tax levy limit beyond the standard 2.5% allowed by law.
If residents vote in favor of the additional $1.8 million request, the town could maintain current levels for staffing and services. The second option, a request for an additional $2.9 million, would fund current services as well as three new hires for immediate needs.
