NORTHAMPTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A brush fire broke out on the Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area in Northampton this weekend. As of Sunday evening, the fire was contained within the fireline established Saturday. Crews worked to find and extinguish hot spots within the fire zone.

The Massachusetts Air National Guard responded with multiple aerial water drops to assist in controlling the fire.

After leaving this brush fire, mutual aid partners encountered another brush fire along Interstate 91 and were able to contain it before it could spread to a larger more dangerous fire.
