Erving PD commend resident for aid with fallen hiker

ERVING, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Erving Police Department has recognized and commended resident Todd Bucci for his efforts in locating the injured individual who had fallen in Farley Ledges on October 8th. Mr. Bucci was able to contact emergency services, provide accurate location information and rendered aid to the individual until help arrived.

On October 20, 2025, Sergeant Adam Paicos of the Erving Police Department brought to my attention the brave actions of a civilian member of our community.  Sergeant Paicos felt it was deserving to recognize Mr. Todd Bucci for his actions on the night of October 8, 2025.

This letter serves to formally recognize and commend Erving resident Mr. Todd Bucci. On October 8, 2025, at approximately 1850 hours, Mr. Todd Bucci, a resident of Erving, heard calls for help coming from the Farley Ledges. Without hesitation, he entered the wooded area and began searching for the individual calling for help. Mr. Bucci located the individual who had fallen approximately 100–150 feet, suffering multiple injuries.

Mr. Bucci immediately contacted emergency services, provided accurate location information, and remained with the victim to render aid until first responders arrived. His quick action, composure, and willingness to enter a hazardous environment directly contributed to saving a life and greatly assisted responding agencies.

The Erving Police Department hereby recognizes Mr. Todd Bucci for his selflessness, bravery, and outstanding service to another in distress. His actions reflect the finest qualities of community citizenship and represent the spirit of compassion and courage that strengthens our town.
