GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield School Committee has launched their search for a new Superintendent to begin July 1st, 2026. The Search Committee is seeking public input on community needs in a new school leader. There will be a focus group for parents and caregivers on November 3rd and another for interested community members on November 5th in the Greenfield High School Library.

From the City of Greenfield:
Greenfield Launches Superintendent Search with Community Focus Groups
The City of Greenfield and the Greenfield Public Schools (GPS) have officially launched a search for a new
Superintendent of Schools to lead the 1,392-student district starting July 1, 2026. Greenfield is seeking a dynamic,
motivated, and empathetic leader to guide the district, which is home to the county’s only non-regional school
district and a modern, ecologically-conscious high school opened in 2015.
To ensure the new leader aligns with the community’s priorities, the Greenfield Superintendent Screening
Committee is conducting a comprehensive needs assessment and invites public participation at several upcoming
focus groups.
“This is a pivotal moment for Greenfield,” said Mayor Virginia Desorgher. “Finding the right leader for our
schools is a task we take very seriously, and it cannot be done without the voices of our community. We are
looking for a superintendent who is not only an experienced administrator but also a visible, empathetic leader
and a builder of trust. I strongly encourage parents, caregivers, and all interested residents to participate in the
upcoming focus groups or the online survey.”
