Greenfield man dies in boat accident on Connecticut River

TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — 54 year-old Greenfield man, Norman Plausky, died Saturday after his boat crashed on the Connecticut River.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, police were called to the scene of a boat crash near the French King Bridge around 2:30 p.m. Saturday when they found Plausky deceased on the shoreline while the boat engine was still running.

Preliminary investigation shows Plausky may have experienced a medical event on the boat prior to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police investigate death of man on Connecticut River

Authorities are investigating the death of a Greenfield man whose boat crashed on the Connecticut River Saturday.

Norman Plausky, 54, died Saturday afternoon while on the river near the French King Bridge in Turners Falls. Police were called to the scene of a boat crash around 2:30 p.m., where they found a man deceased in a boat near the rocks on the shoreline with the engine still running. Preliminary investigation indicates the man may have had a medical event on the boat prior to crash. The incident is still under investigation.

Responding to the scene were Greenfield and Montague police officers, Turners Falls firefighters, as well as State Police Detectives attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Environmental Police officers, State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
