GARDNER, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Heywood and Athol Hospitals were under a “Code Black Diversion” Monday afternoon, according to a social media post by Heywood Hospital.

The ‘Code Black’ was called when a network outage impacted both phones and internet, forcing the hospital to close the emergency department to patient admission.

Network issues began Sunday morning for Heywood Hospital, who initially announced the “Code Black Diversion” was only for Heywood Hospital and Athol Hospital was fully operational. The outage continued through Monday, until Tuesday when Athol Hospital also became impacted by the outage.
