Juvenile apprehended in flag burning

NORTHAMTPON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A 16 year-old has been charged with vandalism in relation to the burning of an American flag at the Northampton Bridge Street Post Office on Tuesday evening, according to a press release from the Northampton Police Department.

When police responded to the reports of a fire around 7:07 p.m., they recognized an American flag burning from several points and a black flag attached next to it.

The juvenile had fled the scene, and was later apprehended by local law enforcement and charged with vandalizing property, burning personal property, disorderly conduct, and setting fire in the open.

Northampton Fire extinguished the fire.
