LAKE PLEASANT, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Lithium ion batteries were the cause of a basement house fire in Lake Pleasant Monday afternoon. Montague and Turners Falls Fire Departments responded to the scene quickly and all occupants safely evacuated, thanks to smoke detectors and an expedient 911 call. Officials remind the public that rechargeable lithium batteries may fail during charging and use only the product-specific chargers, unplugging before leaving the house.
