GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield’s Main Street will undergo repaving next week, on the westbound side between Conway and Federal Streets to address the inconsistencies left from utility work earlier this summer.
Milling is planned for Monday, October 20th and paving to follow on Tuesday. While parking will be blocked in the paving zone during this time, contractors anticipate traffic to be maintained in both directions.
Miles and Warner Streets are also expected to be repaved next week.
From the City of Greenfield:
Repaving Greenfield’s Main Street to Begin Monday, October 20th
The City of Greenfield expects that the westbound side of Main Street between Conway Street and Federal
Street will be repaved during the week of October 20, 2025. This repaving project will address inconsistencies in
the pavement resulting from utility service work performed by Berkshire Gas and its contractors.
Berkshire Gas’ contractors are planning to mill the road surface on Monday, October 20th, and pave on Tuesday,
October 21st. Parking on the westbound side will be blocked beginning late Sunday night. Sidewalks will remain
open, and the contractor anticipates that traffic will be maintained in both directions. Access to driveways and
side streets will also be maintained. Flaggers and a police detail will be on site to assist drivers. The eastbound
side of Main Street will be repaved by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation at a later date.
Miles Street and Warner Street are also expected to be repaved during the week of October 20th
.
“I know that the construction occurring downtown this summer has been disruptive,” said Mayor Virginia
Desorgher. “Our short construction season in New England makes these projects particularly challenging, and I
appreciate the patience of our community members and business owners as Berkshire Gas performed necessary
work on its service lines.”
