Town of Montague to Hold Community Meetings on Housing Plan Update

Montague, MA – The Town of Montague is beginning an update to its Housing Production Plan and will be holding community meetings in each of the five villages to gather public feedback about current and future housing needs.

A Housing Production Plan is a proactive strategy for charting a path towards addressing a community’s current and future housing needs. Montague’s Housing Plan was last completed in 2015 and has expired.

The updated plan will consider current efforts to plan and develop new housing, as well as population demographics and projections. It will assess what types of housing residents may need and how well the existing housing stock meets those needs. For example, the plan will examine household incomes to determine whether enough housing is affordable to low- and moderate-income households. It will also consider residents’ current and projected ages to assess whether there is enough appropriately sized and accessible housing for young families and older residents.

The Town of Montague and their consultant, the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) invites the community to attend upcoming public meetings to learn about the HPP process and to have an opportunity to share your thoughts, concerns, and needs for the future of housing in Montague. All community meetings are from 5:00 – 6:30pm. Food will be served!
