TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLINCOUNTYNOW) — No injuries were reported in a fire on 5th Street in Turners Falls Monday morning.

According to Turners Falls Fire Chief Todd Brunelle, the call came in at 8:45 a.m., and crews arrived at the scene at 79 5th Street three minutes later. Brunelle said the first crew found heavy metal fire from the first-floor rear of the 2 1/2 story multi-family home. There is a kitchen in that part of the home where the fire apparently originated.

Brunelle said the fire was under control in about ten minutes, and then attention turned to be sure that there were no other areas that were on fire.

No injuries were reported among the residents or the fire crews. Brunelle said residents had been alerted to the fire because of detectors in the home, and the chief reminds everyone to be sure they have working fire and carbon monoxide detectors in their homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
