HAWLEY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The town of Hawley is considering paths to help community residents afford rising costs of cemetery plots in the town-owned cemeteries.

As of today, September 15th, the purchase price of plots is $500, up $150 from the previous price of $350. The dramatic increase is due to recent years’ inflation, according to town officials.

The Historical Commission, which oversees the cemeteries, is working on payment plan options and a fund to assist those with financial need.
