The Salvation Army and City of Greenfield Open Warming Center

GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A Warming Center has been opened in Greenfield in advance of the biggest storm of the winter season to date.

The City of Greenfield, in partnership with the Salvation Army of Greenfield, will offer shelter for residents looking to get out of the plunging temperatures.

The Salvation Army at 72 Chapman Street in Greenfield will used as a Warming Center Friday night at 7:00 through Saturday morning at 7:00, from 2:00 Saturday afternoon through 7:00 Sunday morning. The center will also be open on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and will be open all day Monday and until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The Salvation Army of Greenfield is partnering with the City of Greenfield to expand services supporting warming centers and shelter for residents seeking relief from bitter cold temperatures. With freezing temperatures and snow forecast throughout the weekend, the organization is offering a safe place for community members to get out of the cold.

Warming Centers Special Hours of Operation:

  • Friday, January 23, 2026: Hours of Operation: 7 p.m. – Saturday at 7 a.m.
  • Saturday, January 24, 2026 | Hours of Operation: 2 p.m. – Sunday at 7 a.m.
  • Sunday, January 25, 2026 | Hours of Operation: 2 p.m. through Tuesday, January 27, 2026
  • Monday, January 26, 2026 | Hours of Operation: Open all day
  • Tuesday, January 27, 2026 | Hours of Operation: Open until 1 p.m.

In addition to a warm space, The Salvation Army will provide warm blankets, food, and shower facilities for Warming Center guests. The City of Greenfield will staff the site.
